Ashless - Non-metallic
Biocides - Active substances or preparations designed to
inhibit microorganism growth in liquids
Dispersants - An additive included in most engine oils to
disperse and suspend insoluble contaminants so that they can be
removed from the system when the oil is drained. Most often
Non-Metallic ("ashless") The term often used interchangeable with
Detergents
Surfactants - "Surface-active agent" - Wetting agents, a
substance capable of reducing the surface tension of a liquid in
which it is dissolved
Combustion Enhancers - Substances that will make
combustion more complete or more powerful
Deposit Surface Modifiers - Substances that modify the
surface they touch in this case the surfaces in your engine that are
most likely to attract deposits.
Deposits - Oil-insoluble solids like carbon,
lacquer, sludge and varnish resulting from oxidation and
decomposition of engine oil, contamination from external sources
and/or engine blow-by that can settle out on machine or engine
parts.
Combustion Catalyst - a substance that helps fuel
combustion take place more efficiently and completely
Agglomeration - Particles sticking together into a small
mass due to moisture, static charge, chemical or mechanical binding.
